Tine Terms of Service

Updated and effective 26th October 2026

Please read the terms below in full. By clicking "I agree", by creating an account, or by using Tine, its services, or its database in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the platform if you are in the United States or the European Union. In jurisdictions that set a higher minimum age for consenting to data processing — such as South Korea, where the threshold is 14 — you must meet that higher age instead. Where Tine is used to access or manage a group that restricts itself to adults, you must meet that group's age requirement to use the related features. By using the service you confirm you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate.

2. Description of Service

Tine ("the service", "we", "the platform") is community infrastructure for VRChat groups. The service includes, without limitation: hosted group websites, music streaming and request queues (Tine Tunes), the TOD desktop companion and TOD Lite, Discord bot integrations, VRChat instance monitoring and logging, support ticket tooling, shared moderation records, staff dashboards, and related APIs. Features may be added, changed, or removed at any time.

3. Accounts and Access

  1. Staff accounts are issued to individuals authorised by a group that uses Tine, or by Tine administration. You may not share credentials, transfer accounts, or allow others to act under your login.
  2. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if your account is compromised.
  3. Permissions granted to you are scoped to specific groups and features. Attempting to access functionality, data, or groups outside your granted permissions is prohibited.
  4. We may suspend or revoke accounts that are inactive, misused, or created fraudulently.

4. Data Saving, Logging, and Retention

  1. Tine stores data required to operate the service, including but not limited to: account details, staff roles and permissions, group configuration, moderation events (kicks, bans, warnings), queue and request history, support tickets and their contents, instance presence and telemetry reported by TOD clients, and audit logs of actions taken through the platform.
  2. Moderation records and shared-ban data may be retained for as long as a group participates in the relevant sharing programmes, and may persist after you leave a group where the record legitimately belongs to that group's moderation history.
  3. Presence and telemetry data reported by TOD clients is short-lived by design but may be aggregated into longer-lived statistics and logs.
  4. Data submitted by a group (events, member records, ban lists, configuration) belongs to that group. Group administrators may export or request deletion of their group's data by contacting us.
  5. How we collect, use, and retain personal data is described further in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

5. Acceptable Use and Anti-Malicious Behaviour

You agree not to use the service to:

  1. break the law, VRChat's Terms of Service, or Discord's Terms of Service;
  2. harass, threaten, dox, stalk, or harm any person, or to target them with abuse using moderation tools or logs;
  3. probe, scan, attack, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, its infrastructure, other groups' data, or other users' accounts;
  4. interfere with the service's operation — including flooding requests or queues, abusing APIs, bypassing rate limits, or attempting to disrupt streams;
  5. submit false, fraudulent, or defamatory information to queues, tickets, applications, or moderation records;
  6. reverse-engineer, scrape, or bulk-extract service data except through interfaces we explicitly provide;
  7. impersonate Tine staff, group staff, or other users;
  8. use the service to distribute malware, phishing links, or other harmful content.

We may investigate and act on suspected abuse, including suspending access, removing content or records, and reporting unlawful conduct to the relevant parties or authorities.

6. Content

  1. Groups control the content on their own pages, streams, galleries, and queues. Tine is a host and conduit, not the publisher — the group is responsible for what it posts, plays, and displays.
  2. You may not use the service to host, stream, request, or distribute content that is unlawful, infringing, hateful, sexually exploitative of minors, or otherwise prohibited by law or the rules of the platforms the service connects to (VRChat, Discord).
  3. By submitting content (text, images, links, music requests) you confirm you have the right to submit it and grant Tine and the relevant group the licence needed to store, transmit, and display it as part of the service.
  4. We may remove or disable content that breaches these Terms or applicable law, and may suspend groups that repeatedly host prohibited material.
  5. Tine Tunes request tools are for music. Spam, non-music abuse, or requests intended to disrupt a stream may result in loss of queue access.

7. TOD and TOD Lite Clients

  1. TOD clients report which VRChat instance you are in, the world name, and the players present, to power logging and statistics. By installing and running a client you consent to that reporting.
  2. Your VRChat login within TOD remains between your device and VRChat's servers. Tine does not receive, store, or transmit your VRChat password.
  3. You may only operate TOD with accounts and permissions you are authorised to use. Using TOD to monitor or act in instances or groups you are not part of, or to harass players, is prohibited.
  4. You agree to keep clients reasonably up to date; outdated builds may lose access to features or be refused by the service.

8. Moderation Tools and Shared Records

  1. Moderation actions taken through Tine (kicks, bans, warnings, notes) are actions of the group and the staff member who performs them, not of Tine itself.
  2. Where groups opt into shared-ban or shared-record programmes, records you create may be visible to other participating groups. Submit records honestly — fabricated or retaliatory entries may be removed and may cost the submitting group its participation.
  3. Moderation records may not be used to harass, defame, or publicly shame individuals.

9. Service Availability and Changes

Tine is provided on a best-effort basis. The service may be unavailable from time to time for maintenance, updates, outages, or circumstances outside our control. Features may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time. We aim to communicate significant changes but are not obliged to provide notice.

10. Service Continuity Commitment

We don't intend to shut Tine down. The service exists to serve the communities running on it, and the plan is for it to keep running for as long as it's wanted.

However, if the public Tine service ever does have to shut down, we commit to offering group owners a take-home program: a self-contained, locally runnable version of Tine bundled with that group's own data — pages, records, queue history, and configuration intact — so each group can keep using the service on their own device after the public platform closes. In that situation the local build is provided for continuity only: maintenance and updates are unlikely once the public service is gone, and the take-home version is offered as-is.

11. Platform Neutrality and Operator Restraint

Tine holds no stake in the information or data of any group using the service. Group data belongs to the group — not to the platform, and not to its operators personally.

  1. Neither Tine nor its operators will access a group's private data — logs, member records, queue history, tickets, or configuration — except where genuinely required for operating, testing, maintaining, or monitoring the service itself.
  2. We will not use platform access to interfere with any group or server — that includes altering moderation records, changing who is or isn't banned, deleting or fabricating data, disrupting groups, or taking action against a community for personal, social, or competitive reasons.
  3. Tine's operators may also run communities of their own. Operator involvement in the wider VRChat scene does not grant any access to, or influence over, other groups' data — platform access and personal involvement are kept strictly separate.
  4. All groups receive equal treatment: no preferential access, no adverse action without a service-related reason, and no use of one group's data for another group's benefit.

If you believe this commitment has been breached, raise it with us directly — [email protected] — and we will investigate and report back.

12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TINE, ITS OPERATORS, AND CONTRIBUTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOST DATA, LOST ACCESS, MISSED MODERATION ACTIONS, SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS, OR DAMAGES ARISING FROM THIRD-PARTY PLATFORM CHANGES (VRChat, Discord, hosting providers) — ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

13. Termination

  1. We may suspend or terminate access to the service, in whole or in part, at our discretion where these Terms are breached or where continued access would harm the service or others.
  2. You or your group may stop using the service at any time. On request we will remove a group's data, subject to legitimate retention needs (e.g. shared-ban records owned jointly with other participating groups).
  3. Termination or departure does entitle a group to a copy of its own data. Group owners may request an export of their group's records, configuration, and history at any time — including after the group's access ends — and we will provide it within a reasonable time.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. The current version is always published at tine.systems/TOS. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes may be announced through the service or the Tine Discord.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tine and its operators from any claim, loss, or damage — including reasonable legal costs — arising from your misuse of the service, content you submit or streams you run, or your breach of these Terms.

16. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the service's operator resides. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the service will be heard in the courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory local law gives you the right to bring a claim in your own jurisdiction instead. Before filing any claim, both sides agree to try to resolve the dispute informally first — contact us at [email protected] and we'll make a genuine effort to sort it out.

17. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. No liability-cap or disclaimer in these Terms removes rights you cannot legally be made to waive — where consumer-protection law applies to you, it applies fully. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Tine regarding the service.

18. Contact

Questions, disputes, or takedown requests: [email protected], or the support channel in the Tine Discord.
